Daily Top Internet Keyword Tracking

Soovle is a great free tool site that allows you to do a lot of keyword research. One aspect of this site I found very interesting and somewhat unique is there daily keyword tracking by web property (or search engine). Currently the top keywords are tracked through Google, Amazon, Yahoo, Ask and YouTube (which is now the second largest search engine next to Google).

Information from the site describes there top keyword tracking list as:

This list is the most used search suggestions provided by the major service providers and is organized by each letter of the alphabet.

The top list is compiled nightly by querying each of the completion services of the major providers. Each provider's result is treated as a vote. The votes are tallied and the terms are ordered, within a letter-set, by the number of votes that query received.

Ever Wonder - What Domains Were Registered Today?

Domains Daily is a great site to see what domains were registered on a certain day (uses a great little calendar interface). Currently it covers from November 2008 up through today.

What I have used this site for in the past covers everything from:

- Looking for new domain ideas
- Checking to see when a domain was registered
- Getting an idea of how many domains are registered on a daily basis (very impressive numbers)

Generate Local Adwords & Keyword Lists for FREE

I always find it fun to create keyword lists for local campaigns (paid search or organic). It takes a lot of time to find every city and zip code variation for whatever radius you are targeting (could be hundreds of hours depending on the campaign). Well, today I stumbled on one of the best FREE keyword generation tools I have seen in a long time. This one is from 5MinuteSite.com and is a great resource for anyone who is a webmaster or in search engine marketing.

Detailed Search Engine Comparison Charts

One thing that I never seem to get bored with is new data sources. Whether it is completely new data or a new look at existing data I love data (maybe a little to much personal information).

That being said I just found Web Search (WSG) Research and their (very detailed) search engine comparison charts. These charts are like no others I have ever seen and contain so much information that it is something worth bookmarking for future reference. Check them out below:

Ask Joins the 'Safer Search' Bandwagon

Ask recently announced that they are partnering with Symantec to offer, 'safer searhing'. This follows, Google's own internal offerings (which recently had a major hickup - TechCrunch - Google Flags Whole Internet as Malware) and Yahoo's offer earlier in 2008 (Yahoo Press Release - Yahoo! and McAfee Partner to Make Searching the Web More Secure for Users).

What concerns me is that after every other search engine announces or implements a safe search offering, that it takes this long for Ask to announce one also. While a Symantec partnership is impressive, it is so late in the game that it really is yesterday's news and just the general ante to be able play in the search space. I would love to see Ask become more of a leader and quit trying to just play catch-up. They have a very unique offering with a quality product, but amazingly enough cannot figure out how to get their hands around it to market it effectively.

Yahoo Fun Fact

Just a little fun fact for those who do not already know it - if you go to the Yahoo homepage and click on the explanation point (i.e '!') in the Yahoo logo you will hear a sound clip played that is their original (and current) branded sound clip. Nothing big, but a little fun for a Monday morning...:-)
